Day 26 Prompt – Who’d Play You In A Movie?

I asked my hubby who said that Renee Zellewegger should play me in a movie. Although he did say that the old version of her should play me (during the Bridget Jones era) and not her current version. Have you seen her? I didn’t even recognise her!

But I think I’d prefer Reese Witherspoon to play me. She can do both serious stuff – Walk The Line is a favourite – and comedy – Legally Blonde anyone?

Clearly I have not given this topic much thought!!

{edit} Just been browsing and John over at ShoutJohn.co.uk shared a link to the Radio Times quiz on this very subject. Apparently Jennifer Lawrence should play me because “Your biopic needs the coolest chick in town to take the lead role. JLaw and her hilarious antics are just right for you.” This made me laugh!!! {/edit}

Who would play you in a movie?

Day 25 Prompt – Favourite Book

When I saw this prompt I couldn’t think what my favourite book is. In my time I’ve been an avid reader but other than last year*, recently I’ve not read much at all.

* whilst pregnant last year I travelled to work by bus because driving was giving me high blood pressure! So I read a few books whilst on the buses

The first book that came to mind was a Welsh book that we studied for Welsh GCSE – “Cysgod Y Cryman”. We studied this book at length and I’ve read it a few times since leaving school. In fact I’m tempted to read it again now that I’ve found my copy!

The book is listed on Goodreads but naturally it’s synopsis is in Welsh but here it is translated:

The 2nd World War is over, but its consequences for the Vaughan family will be felt for years to come. The son, Harri, who has been a conscientious objector, returns and is engaged to the daughter of a nearby family. But change is inevitable.

There is obviously more to the story and it is a good read. It’s been translated into English and is called “Shadow of the Sickle”. If you can read it, I would really recommend it. Like I said, I found my copy today and here’s some photos of it. I hadn’t realised it was a first edition before. Shame it’s missing it’s dust sleeve.

When I went looking for this book I had a look on what else I have on the bookshelves. Here’s four of the shelves and as you can see I have a bit of an eclectic collection.¬†IMG_1688.JPG

  1. Alan Titchmarsh – so he’s better known as a celebrity gardener but he also writes books. And they’re very entertaining.
  2. Biographies – Eddie Jordan, David Coulthard, Murray Walker (all F1 peeps!) and Michael Crawford, Johnny Cash and Gordon Ramsay – so far I’ve only read Michael Crawford’s one.
  3. Jackie Collins – I’ve read one book by her and they’re a bit err. “fruity” but enjoyable!
  4. Wendy Holden – I picked one up in a charity shop and read it on the bus last year. I’ve then gone on to read another 5 of her books with another 2 pending! They’re “chick-lit” and although they’re somewhat predictable they were still great.
  5. Dracula – I love Dracula the character and so I’m thinking I ought to read the actual book.
  6. Pregnancy For Men – this book I bought for the hubby when I was pregnant. It’s supposed to give men the pregnancy advice but in “men speak”. I must admit, I enjoyed it! It was fantastic!!

What’s your favourite book? And have you got a mixed collection or do you stick to the same genre?

Day 24 Prompt – One Beauty Product You Cannot Live Without ?

This prompt is one of the ones I thought was a bit of a waste on someone like me. I’m not a fashionable person as I stated on Day 16.

I never wear makeup. Never have done. I think the closest I’ve come to wearing make up is when I bought some black eyeliner and nail varnish when I attended work’s fancy dress party as a goth!

So in answer to today’s prompt, I could very easily live without beauty products except I couldn’t live without shampoo and conditioner as I have to wash my hair on a daily basis.

Which beauty products could you not live without?

Day 23 Prompt –¬†Favourite Instagram Editing Apps/Tools for Your Blog

I must admit that I don’t use many apps for my blog and don’t use any for Instagram – only use the filters on Instagram itself. The main app I do use is a little app called Moldiv which is a photo editor.

IMG_1687.JPG

The app has a lot of templates which you can use – it’s great for combining photos into one. I use it for most of my blog images. I especially like the funky templates! You can also use the magazine templates to make funky magazine pages!

Have you got a favourite image editing app?

Day 22. Pet Peeves

Oh wow I’m late posting today! All my other entries have been posted in the morning but this one is being posted at 9pm! Reason for this is because I’ve just come back from holiday and hadn’t scheduled a post for today – I ran out of wi-fi!!

So my pet peeves! Here’s my current top 5!!

1. Recycling

I came into the house last week and saw that hubby had been tidying up. His version of tidying up is binning everything – including recyclable items such as paper and fizzy drink cans. It annoys me when he doesn’t recycle!!

2. Switching off lights

On a similar line to the recycling it annoys me when he leaves lights on in rooms he’s not in! I will quite often walk upstairs to bed and find he’s left the light on since like 3 hours ago!!

3. Doors

Still having a rant about my hubby really but it annoys me when he leaves doors open. It’s bloody cold now and I have the central heating on which costs money. But what’s the point when he leaves the door open?!!

4. Smoking

I’ve mentioned this before but I really really hate smoking! It’s a dirty habit and I don’t understand why anyone would want to do it. But I can appreciate that everyone is different so what my pet peeves really relates to is inconsiderate smokers – those people who smoke in front of children and babies. Especially those who smoke around my baby!

5. Empty Kettle

There is nothing worse than reaching the kettle at work to find it’s empty!!!

What are your pet peeves?
