Miffy on Tiny Pop

What another blog post? Well yes because I found out that Miffy is back on telly this week and I wanted to tell the world!

Miffy – who was created by Dick Bruna 60 years ago – has been CGIfied and is back in her own show  (Miffy’s Adventures Big and Small) on pre-school channel Tiny Pop from 7pm Friday October 2nd. Miffy will be part of Tiny Pop’s Cuddle Time which features gentle programming allowing parents and children to enjoy calmer family favourites before bedtime. It’ll be better than having to watch Finding Nemo again!

Despite the fact she’s been updated to CGI (which normally I don’t like – 80s Thomas is so much better than it’s modern day counterpart), Miffy is still the timeless classic with her lovely  crosshair facial features. I’ve always loved Miffy and I’m glad that she still looks the same – in fact looks fab for 60 eh?!

Miffy will be joined in her 7 minute episodes by new characters and voiced by children. Miffy’s Adventures Big and Small will see Miffy explore the world around her and will feature simple words and cheerful songs which I’m sure Little Miss will sing along to eventually. There’s going to be 52 episodes in total so we’ll have plenty to watch!

So will you be joining me & Little Miss on Friday to watch Miffy’s welcome return on Tiny Pop? Friday October 2nd 7pm on Tiny Pop! Join in using the #miffytime hashtag

(This was a sponsored post on behalf of Miffy but I am genuinely excited to watch Miffy this Friday!)

Now to be fair that isn’t really the title for this post but did it catch your eye?

I recently watched “Men. Women and Children” which is a film about relationships in the modern era where social media and technology has taken over lives. There are a number of stories going on in this film but the one that struck a chord with me was the Adam Sandler and Rosemarie DeWitt one. They portray a married couple with teenage children who have become stuck in a rut that they seek satisfaction from outsiders. He starts off by watching porn and ends up with an “escort” whilst she joins the Ashley Madison dating site (famous for being a site to facilitate affairs) and has an affair. He finds out and confronts her but rather than judge he informs her that he’s also been misbehaving. Their marriage gets back on track. *

I just found it so sad that it got to that stage but I can see how easily it could go that way.

(* this was one of those weird films where it comments on the modern era and makes you think and question certain things – worth a watch!)

As you know, hubby and I have been married for 3 years this year and yes of course we still love each other as much as we ever did, but occasionally I feel like we’re not as lovey dovey as we used to be. Is this because we’ve come stuck into a routine?

I feel like we never kiss each other good bye in the morning because one of us is dashing off to work or to drop off Little Miss at childcare. We’re so tried these days between looking after the two of them that we hardly cuddle. At the moment we haven’t got time to snuggle on the sofa because one of us is holding the baby.

I know it’s a phase and it will pass but I don’t want to leave it so we feel disconnected from each other. With this in mind, I’m hoping to persuade hubby’s parents to look after the little ones so we can have a date night. Because we’re so tired we’ve decided to have a Date Night Movie Night instead!

So, any suggestions as to what we should watch?

Today is World Tourism Day! And so to celebrate I’m sharing my top 6 touristy places I would like to visit.

1) Grand Canyon/Las Vegas

Las Vegas

I’ve been to the Grand Canyon and to Las Vegas before but hubby hasn’t. I would love to go back and do a bit more whilst I’m there. As horrid as it sounds I would like to walk along the observation deck even though it would be scary as hell!

2) Australia

Sydney Harbour Bridge

I’ve been wanting to visit Australia for a while – I’ve previously mentioned that I’d like to go to Melbourne to the Grand Prix and to visit the Neighbours set.

However there’s more to Australia than that. I’d love to go to Sydney to see the opera house – it’s one of those iconic building that you just have to have a photo in front of! I don’t think I’d be brave enough to walk the Sydney Harbour bridge though!

I’d also like to visit Ayer’s Rock at sunset. It would be beautiful! Would I be brave enough to climb it in heels and a posh frock a la Priscilla Queen of the Desert?

3) New Zealand

New Zealand

To me New Zealand has some stunning views (if Lord of The Rings is anything to go by). It looks like Snowdonia on a bigger scale! I’ve been a fan of the Hobbits since the first Lord of the Rings film and would love to visit the film set – as I’m sure hubby would as well.

4) New York

New York

This image is mine!

We’ve been here before but there are things we didn’t get to do. We didn’t get to go to Liberty Island nor Ellis Island because it was in the aftermath of the hurricane and building works were going on there. Also I’d like to visit more filming locations for example the Ghostbusters building! (We did get a photo in front of MIB HQ though – see this post for more info including meeting Tom Hanks*!)

5) Iceland

I love snow and I would really love to see the Northern Lights. Also Iceland has some amazing geothermal pools which look absolutely stunning!

6) San Francisco

I’ve also been here before but would love to go back with hubby. When I visited I did the touristy things like standing by the Golden Gate bridge, visit Pier 39 and Alcatraz. If I go back I’d want to explore the place a bit more including going to the parks.

I asked hubby where he would like to visit and he’s more into historical stuff for example he’d like to visit the pyramids in Egypt, the Coliseum in Rome, Terracotta Army in China etc. I don’t know…. China would also be a good one but I’d like to see the Great Wall.

How about you? Where would you like to re/visit?

*You knew that reference was coming right?!

Today is the Autumnal Equinox (or first day of Autumn) and I must admit, I love this time of year! Here’s 10 random thoughts about Autumn

1) Colours

This season has to best for colours! From your yellows to your reds and browns it’s just amazing.

2) Conkers

I love them but haven’t gone collecting for a while. As a child conker collecting was a big thing! As was playing conkers – although lots o bruised knuckles if my memory serves me correctly!

3) Weather

The weather may be “miserable” by some peoples standards but if truth be told, I feel at home in the wind and rain.

4) Fashion

I’m not a fashionable person but I appreciate style. In other words, I might not wear it but I like looking at it attitude! I love comfy style that appears this time of year. After browsing Pinterest I must admit that I’m loving the dresses, leggings/tights & boots look as well!
Follow Rebecca’s board Autumn Fashion on Pinterest.

5) Leaves

I love the crunchiness of fallen leaves (and of course their colours)

6) Guy Fawkes Night

It’s a bit of a weird one but in 5th Nobember we celebrate Guy Fawkes night with bonfire and fireworks. I’ve not been to a display in years so might try and go this year.

7) Good food

It’s time to bring out the nice hearty meals such as lobscows!

8) Boots

I wear boots all year around but at least now I don’t look stupid wearing them! I’ve bought some really nice ones for my return to work.

9) Starlings

I love adore watching hundreds of Starlings fly over on my way to work. I just wish I could sit there and watch them.

10) Nature photos

The combination of the weather, leaves, and colours make for some spectacular photos! I mean look at these beauties.

Favourite Animals

I’ve had this post in drafts since last year but finally Blogtober16 has made me publish it! So here is my list of:

favourite animals.

Dogs - Megs & Gemma

Well of course dogs have to top the list! We have two (Megs & Gemma) and I will admit that they do not get the attention they deserve at the moment.

I don’t know why but I’ve always loved giraffes – maybe it’s the dream of being tall? They just look so majestic in my opinion. They were always my exotic animal of choice.

I was lucky enough to get to feed some out in Florida – that’s the photo above.

I’ve loved these cheeky little creatures well before Alexsandr made an appearance on the CompareTheMeerkat adverts! No my love for them started way back when I happened to catch Meerkat Manor on a rainy Sunday afternoon. If you’ve not seen it then you don’t know what you’re missing!

I know that I should be saying red squirrel since the grey squirrel is a villain but if truth be told, I’m. Lt fussed. Of purse the gret is much more common but they’re still cute!

But what I love about them is their agility. We currently have one running along our bck fence. It’s fascinating to watch. He’ll run and jump and all of a sudden will dip to the other side of the fence so all I can see is his tail. I wish I could get a photo it video. Although he has nothing on the Carling squirrel!

What are your favourite animals?
