F1 Wednesday

Since it’s a Wednesday you know what that means – oh yeah another F1 Wednesday post!

Belgian GP

The F1 came back from the summer break with a bit of a bang! First race post break was the Belgian GP which is always a good one.

This year there was no rain which is such a disappointment! But even so there was still some action on track.

Vettel’s Tyre Blowout

The main thing that happened is that Vettel had a tyre blow out just after Eau Rouge.

In the interview afterwards needless to say Vettel was annoyed and made damn sure the world knew. He had rather a foul mouthed rant at Pirelli.

Whilst I can see why he was angry – it wasn’t because of him missing out on a podium but because had it happens a couple of meters before he would’ve crashed straight into the barriers at the top of Eau Rouge which at the speeds they do there (over 300mph) it could’ve been fatal

However I don’t think it was entirely fair to blame Pirelli. They had said that the max a tyre could cope with was 22 laps and I believe that Vettel was on the 27th lap on those tyres. When you push the limits then inevitably something has to give.

(I believe last week Pirelli have been cleared of any wrong doing although there seems to be some doubt over the validity of this)

Grosjean’s Podium

The good thing that came from the Belgiam GP is by Lotus (via Grosjean) scored their first podium of the season. I was so pleased especially given Grosjean’s past performance at Spa (2012 anyone?).

The podium couldn’t have come at a better time – rumours were rife that Lotus were in big financial difficulty and that bailiffs were there to seize the cars! Thankfully all seems to have settled down as they went on to race in Italy.

(Oh and before I forget – it’s been 4 years since we were there!)

Italian GP

Pretty much another race dominated by Hamilton and yup getting pretty boring now!

Massa’s Podium

Yay Felipe Massa crossed the line in 3rd place and nabbed that final step in the podium. I was so pleased for him! Honestly if there’s someone is like to see win the championship it’s Massa.

#DeflateGate F1 Style

Tha was the main story from this race. After the whole tyre blowout incidents in Spa, Pirelli changed the tyre pressure levels for this race.

A couple of laps before the end of this race Hamilton was told by the time to make sure h pulled out a 25 second gap on second place Vettel. This was rather an odd request as no one expected Hamilton to pit again. However Nico Rosber’s car begs car blew up and then it was rumoured maybe a similar problem in Hamiltons car.

After the podium celebrations it came out that the tyre pressure on Hamilton’s rear left was 2.4 psi under the limit. The team that requested the 25s gap just in case a post race drive through penalty was applied.

After much discussion the stewards decided that  Hamilton and no penalty was applied. Something I didn’t agree with. Earlier in the day GP2 pole sitter Mitch Evans was disqualified and had to start from the backh of the grid after it was found his tyre pressures failed to meet the minimum levels. Why apply the penalty in GP2 but not in F1 – same rules, same stewards I believe?!

Singapore GP

Well what a difference Singapore was! Hamilton out with power failure, 2 Ferraris on the podium and a 2nd place for Ricciardo.

Nice night for a stroll?

However it would appear that the man of the moment (albeit not for good reasons) was the idiot who decided to take a stroll along the track mid race. Thanks to him a safety car was deployed which meant the pack closed up which Red Bull think cost Ricciardo the win.

I’ve blogged about the McLarens before and it was said pre-race that this could be the one that would serve them best from a points perspective. Fat chance of that! They completely bugger up Jenson’s pit stop with a humiliatingly slow tyre change (wheel nut problem again – Jenson is cursed I’m sure as it’s not the first time it’s happened).

BOTH McLarens retired from the race! Honestly, can it get any worse for this team?!

And now it’s on to Japan!

I’ve finally had a chance to sit down and go through the goodie bags I got at last week’s #PartyAtTheAngel. I’ll start with the main goodie bag#PartyAtTheAngel Goodie Bag

In the main goodie bag there was a 15% off card for Renate (a clothing store in Cardiff) and these Praire Charms hair accessories. I love those – so much better than the £1 ones I bought in Primark!Renate and Praire Charms

Also included were these jewellery tattoos which when applied will last for 7 days. And there were three little vials of nice smelly stuff from Scent City.

Barebaroque and ScentCityNext up we have some lipgloss from the Beauty Crowd. As I don’t wear makeup this is a bit lost on me so I’m donating it to my friend. No doubt she’ll love them! There was also a small bag of chocolate buttons with honeybees on them from Bee Good – aren’t they cute?

Beauty Crowd & BeeGood chocs

Finally, there was this lovely tag on the goodie bag – a BIG shout out to Ffion & Charlotte for organising and getting all the brands involved!

#PartyAtTheAngel tag

I also received a goodie bag from Pad Deco who were one of the brands that attended the event. I’m a bit gutted that they’d run out of “fluff” (actually a sample of sheepskin rug from what I understood) by the time I got to talk to them. The owner was so lovely despite the fact she had to repeat herself numerous times!

Pad Deco

So inside the goodie bag was this awesome candle shaped like a pear. And as it’s a green it will fit in well in our front room. I also loved this sample of an actual jigsaw wallpaper.

Also included was this orange birdie notebook which is going into my handbag. I’m not entirely sure what this white disc is but I’ve hung it up on our curtain hooks for now until I find a better spot for it.

And of course there was Pad Deco’s business card and two “brand cards” – if only I had a house big enough to decorate like in these cards!

Pad Deco

So there you have it – my tour of the goodie bags! Seems a but of a shame to post this as now I don’t have anymore #PartyAtTheAngel posts to share! 🙁

The Mami Tag

I saw this tag last year when I was home with Little Miss but I never completed it.. so I thought I’d do it now instead.

1. Are you a Stay at Home Mum, or a Working Mum?
I’m a working mum – or I will be in two weeks time!

2. Would you have it any other way?
I’m probably a bad mother for saying this but no I don’t think I would. Of course, the girls will always be my first priority but I’m still the person I was before they came along. The person I was before LOVED work and even now I can’t imagine not working. I would like a better work life balance though but unfortunately with the distance to work it’s just not possible. But if truth be told, I’m not looking forward to going back to work as much as I did last time around.

3. Do you co-sleep?
No! MissMostyn is still in a moses basket in our room (until she’s 6 months) and Little Miss is in her cot in her room. She’ll be moving to a big girl bed at Christmas though!

4. What is your one must-have item for your baby?
Mr Bwns! I cannot leave the house unless we have Mr Bwns and a Nwns (a dummy or pacifier). MissMostyn is still too young to have formed an attachment to anything yet.

5. How many kids do you plan on having?
Two and no more. Hubby would like more but two is my limit. I want to get “back to normal” with a work routine.

6. Date night? How many nights per month?
We’ve been on occasional date nights whilst LittleMiss was our only baby but since MissMostyn’s arrival we haven’t had a date night at all. Although we have booked babysitters (Nain & Taid) for the weekend of October 9th/10th!!

7. Your child’s favourite show?
Clearly MissMostyn isn’t old enough to have favourite shows but LittleMiss is! She loves Thomas The Tank Engine (she’s definitely my girl!) and her current favourite film is Finding Nemo which have to watch at least twice a day!

8. Name one thing you bought before you had your baby and never ended up using?
Bottle warmer! Tommee Tippee had a bottle warmer that “accompanied” the steraliser but due to the fact that you’re not supposed to re-heat bottles it was a waste of money!

9. Your child’s favourite food?
Cacan! Egg custard tart!

Egg custard tart

She loves the egg custard tarts – the tea is mine!

10. How many cars does your family have?

Two – would love to be able to survive on just one but unfortunately that’s not possible in this neck of the woods.

11. Weight gain before pregnancy, during and after and now?
I don’t actually know. I need to lose some weight now really but I think I’m back to what I was previously. I’m actually considering joining Slimming World!

12. Dream holiday with your kids?
Disney! We’ve been to Disneyland  Florida once for our honeymoon but I think we’ll both admit that it’ll be just magical with kids.

13. Dream holiday without your kids?
Australian Grand Prix – enough said!

14. How has your life changed since your baby has been born?
It’s odd to say but I don’t think my life has changed that much since the kids were born. Obviously the overwhelming sense of responsibility and protectfulness that consumes me is new but actual day to day stuff hasn’t changed. It’s the emotional stuff that have changed.

15. Finish the sentence: ‘It makes my heart melt to see … ‘
Little Miss fast asleep in her cot or MissMostyn fast asleep in hers!

16. Where do you shop for your kids?
Wherever is cheapest!! She outgrows things so fast that there is no point in spending much. But choice shops are Tesco, Asda and Primark.

17. Favourite makeup and skincare products?
I don’t wear makeup and I haven’t got a skincare routine. So I don’t own any products!

18. Huggies or Pampers?
Pampers without a doubt!

19. Have you always wanted kids?
Before meeting my husband I would’ve said no thank you but on our third (or so) date we discussed kids and he said he wanted some which got me thinking….and now we have two!

20. Best part about being a mum?
The love that exists between me & my girls. It’s unconditional and just fills my heart with pure joy! Seeing their smiling faces is so worth the sleep deprivation!

I’m not tagging anyone specific but you’re more than welcome to participate! Let me know if you do!

Well on Sunday I went to my first blogger event!! It was being held in Cardiff which is a 4 hour drive for me but I was determined to make it to at least one event this year! I left the girlies with their Dadi and headed for a pure selfish ME day!

On my way selfie

“I’m on my way” selfie!

I set off at around 8am and after a couple of pit stops – including taking a selfie and taking a photo of my beautiful Moelwyns – I arrived in Cardiff at 12.30pm. I parked up at The Angel Hotel and went in to get changed. I didn’t travel down in my outfit because it would’ve been real uncomfrotable to wear it all day and night!

I then wandered around town and met up with Leanne (A Slice of My Life Wales), Vikki (Planet Vikki) and Michelle (Sparkle Star Cupcake) and then we all walked to The Angel. We were greeted by the lovely Ffion (A South Wales Blog) and posed for photos. There were a number of brands present including Helfa Ddillad, Just Cuts, PAD Deco and Welsh Girl Problems. Unfortunately I didn’t take many photos so don’t have any to share! Other brands had contributed to the goodie bag including Bee Good, Praire Charms, Scent City and Beauty Crowd Cardiff. Hanne from Beauty Crowd Cardiff made an appearance and did a little presentation about what items were in the goodie bag. If truth be told she was speaking a language I did not understand (makeup!) but she was fun and engaging that it was quite enjoyable to listen to her. PartyAtTheAngel Cake After that some of the brands left and we bloggers were left to mingle, eat canapes and drink some free prosecco (which of course I couldn’t so opted for the complimentary water instead). There was also some yummy cupcakes! VERY nice! Big thumbs up to whoever made those! There was a scrapbook and some creations were fantastic! I did my “bored ram” doodles which is an unfortunate name really since I wasn’t bored but the only time I doodle is when I’m bored and on hold with HMRC – which is how I came up with “bored ram” doodle!!

Couldn’t get away with a Nemo drawing! #partyattheangel A photo posted by Rebecca (@becsterdotcom) on

As always with netwroking events I didn’t mingle much which thinking about it now I’m like “why?!” I am actually really shy so hate introducing myself to people! I did get chatting to Charlotte & Beth (who has the best pink hair which I am super jealous of!)

#PartyAtTheAngel selfies

There were a number of competitions including one for the best Tweet (which Leanne won and received some yummy chocolates), one for the outfit of the day and one for the best scrapbook drawing (which I still think Leanne should’ve won for her sperm balloon!). There was also a Photo Booth….

#PartyAtTheAngel PhotoBooth

At around 5.45pm I left so I could start the long journey home. It took me 4 hours to get back so I was back around 10pm (after stopping for pancakes at Little Chef!). As you can see, it was a 357mile round trip but it was worth it to attend my first blogging event. Because I was so late home I didn’t get a chance to open the goodie bags so I’ll leave that for a separate post for now.

Aaaaaand I’m home!!!! #partyattheangel

All in all it was a pretty good day even though it was a tiring journey! 🙂 Worth it just to meet these fantastic ladies!

3rd Wedding Anniversary

I can’t believe it’s only been 3 years since we got married. It feels so much longer! Traditionally I’m supposed to give him something with leather but we decided this year not to bother with presents and I couldn’t think of anything leathery – or nothing I’d share here at least! 😉

So happy wedding anniversary to my man! Here’s to many more happy years together! Love you honey xxx
