On May 1st I’m going to BlogOn MOSI and if truth be told I’m actually quite nervous! So to get to know everyone I’m going to go through everyone in the Great Big Blog On Icebreaker linky!

Hubby & I at Red Dwarf

Share a recent picture of you (if you are an anonymous blog, a drawing is fine)

If you had to describe yourself in three words…….
I HATE this question! I never know how to describe myself. I asked hubby and his answer was “sexy (pfft!), stroppy (true!) and geek”

How long have you been blogging and what made you start?
I first started arpund 15 years ago but stopped and then continued off and on. This version has been going since August 2013 though.

What was your favourite TV program as a child?
Depends at what age! But I loved Thomas The Tank Engine, Tiny Toon Adventures and Raggy Dolls.

Something interesting you might not know about me is . . .
I’m bi-lingual. My first language is Welsh and it’s what I speak mostly. Fluent in Welsh and English and used to pretty good in French (have an A Level) but not spoken it in years!

What is the weirdest food you have ever eaten?
Oh I’m not very brave when it comes to food.

What was your biggest fashion faux pas?
No idea!

What are you pet peeves?
People not recycling! I hate seeing paper, cans and plastic in the bin at work because they could be recycled!!

Who would be your 3 perfect dinner party guests (dead or alive) and why?
I’ve posted about my dream dinner party previously!

If they made a movie of your life, what would it be about and which actor would play the part of you?
It’d be about the life of a geeky Chartered Accountant living and working in the beauty that is Snowdonia and would star Reese Witherspoon.

If you could live in any sitcom, which one would it be?
Friends of course! But I would much prefer to live on Ramsey Street (Neighbours).

Name a famous person you have met
Tom Hanks (yes really!), Mark Webber (1/2/3 times!), Sky F1 Team, Stephen Gately, The League of Gentlemen, Joe & Murr (Impractical Jokers), Robert Lindsay, Pam Ferris, Red Dwarf cast, Priscilla Musical cast

Hmmm tough one! Twitter possibly because I’m quite open and out there.

Photos of my girls <3

How many pairs of shoes do you own?
A few but I have two main pairs – black ankle boots for work and then my Skechers Shape Ups for day to day walking.

What period of time from the past would you most like to have lived?
Possibly back in the middle ages so I could see the castles in all their glory. But a hubby stated, we probably definitely would have died pretty quickly. We wouldn’t have survived without wi-fi, Chinese takeaway and Sky+!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

What is your guilty pleasure?
TV shows such as the Top Model series. And chocolate although not at the moment since I’m #DeChox-ing!

What is your favourite tipple?
Tea! Or a can of fizzy Vimto. I don’t drink any alcohol so I’m on the sugary stuff instead!

If you had a magic lamp and a Genie, what would be your three wishes
Health, happiness and security for me & my family.

A couple of month’s back we test drove a Nissan Leaf and found it was quite a nice car. Now if you know nothing about cars then I’ll point out that a Nissan Leaf is a purely electric car.

Quite often we’ve stopped at Chester Services on the way to Manchester and have seen cars charing at the charging stations by the door. We’ve been fascinated by how it works and looked into it. If you buy an electric car you can sign up to Ecotricity and are able to charge your car for free at their charging stations.

So on February 29th, we only went and bought an electric car!!! We bought it from Lookers in Chester and had a great salesman (David) and if you’re in the market for a Nissan I would recommend speaking to him. We picked the car up last Saturday and had a great handover from Matt. Again, highly recommended.

Hello new car! The start of our eco friendly journey #newcar #nissanleaf #electriccar #ecorevolution

(Please note that it wasn’t me that parked it in the disabled space! It was the garage!)

I’ve driven the car for the past three days and its’s taking time to switch over to driving an electric car. Firstly, it’s an automatic which is something I’ve never driven before! I’ll tell you, it was quite embarrassing being sat in the carpark and one of your co-workers comes to ask you if you’re ok and having to explain that I don’t know how to start it! Anyway, I figured it out!

The car is supposed to be able to do 150 miles on a full battery but so far the maximum I can get is around 102 miles – this was based on a journey I did yesterday which was 88 miles and the car was saying I had 14 miles left. It was quite scary to get the “battery low” message come up!

But it should be great to get me back and forth to work. My daily commute is around 44 miles so I can get to work and back for two days on a full battery. It costs around £1.50 to fully charge the battery so I’m paying 75p per day to get to work. I worked out that in my lovely old petrol Fiesta – (yes this is me saying goodbye. I was quite heartbroken!) – I can get to work and back for around £4.00 to £4.50. It was a very weird experience fuelling the car up for the last time!

Bye car!!! #newcar

We’ve had a charging point installed at home which cost around £500. Yes I know it’s a lot but it’s a one-off fee and if our next car is electric then it’s worth it. I’m saving way more than that in fuel every year. The car itself was also an expensive piece of machinery however there was a £5000 grant available from the Government which helped reduce the cost.

It’s exciting having an electric car! Would you go for it?

So first off, HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY!

As a teenager I developed a love for all things Irish. I think it was all Boyzone‘s fault!! Although to be fair I was completely fascinated by the fact that I’m 1/8 Irish – Taid’s Dad (so my great-grandad) was originally from Stepaside, Dublin.

Yes so as a teen I was very much into the Irish music scene. I loved all the Irish groups – Boyzone, B*Witched, Westlife & The Corrs (who are making a comeback!). I’ve been listening to these a lot recently and it just instantly takes me back to my teens. Ahh happy days!

My favourite tv show was Ballykissangel and I couldn’t wait until Sunday evenings so I could watch it. I used to watch it in the days of “Danny Byrne” aka Colin Farrell. Yup he started in the small screen you know!

And then thinking back I also loved the film “Waking Ned Devine” about an Irish village trying to claim the lotto winnings of a deceased resident – he dies as he finds out he’s won the jackpot! It’s a light hearted film and quite enjoyable. Surprisingly I believe it was filmed in the Isle of Man and not in Ireland. Must have been better tax breaks in IOM!

There wasn’t much point to this post other than to wish everyone a Happy St. Patrick’s Day and on that note I’ll leave you with this gem of a song by Sham Rock!

F1 Wednesday

I’ve not done an F1 Wednesday post in a while! I may need to update my photo since Mark Webber is no longer driving an F1 car.

So this post is about my F1 fears… or if truth be told, my biggest fear. I fear that I’m losing interest in Formula 1. I’m struggling to be enthusiastic about it after what I feel was such a boring season last year. If I’m honest, I’ve been struggling to stay enthusiastic ever since Mark Webber left the sport. I just didn’t have a driver to support. I say I switched to Daniel Ricciardo because it was the natural switch – Mark’s fellow Aussie who took over his seat. It’s just not the same without Mark Webber.

Pre-season testing happened about two weeks ago and if I’m honest, the only thing I picked up on was that they’re considering bringing in the “halo” head guard on the cars. Oh and that they’re shaking up Qualifying.

I very nearly bought tickets for the British Grand Prix when we were travelling past Silverstone on January 30th (coming back from Red Dwarf) but something at the back of my mind stopped me. I’ve now worked out what that was and it’s because it’ll be Miss Mostyn’s first birthday that weekend!

Are you currently watching the Formula 1 (or will be when it starts)? What are your feelings?

Well Miss Mostyn is almost 8 months old and has recently had her first teeth come through. She has two little teeth at the bottom front and it’s just so cute. She won’t let me take a photo though because 1) she’s trying to catch my phone and 2) she’s busy trying to chomp at my fingers. Yes we have a little biter!!

So when I was offered a teething necklace from LaLa Beads to review I snapped (*) at the chance! *Did you get it? ;

LaLa Beads

La La Beads is a UK based company that designs these lovely necklaces. They are made of BPA and toxin free silicone and are stylish to wear and great for little teeth to chew on. The company was started by Alyse who – like me – couldn’t wear normal necklaces due to little hands try to rip them off her neck! These are a perfect alternative.

LaLa Beads

There’s currently a choice of three different styles which come in two different colours. This version I have is the “Bubble” in Citron. Be sure to have a look at their website to see the other options – the “Spice” version looks lovely!

So what can I say other than these have been a hit with my girls! MissMostyn loves chewing at them which is excellent news because she now has two front teeth (or as my Nain calls them, “toothy-pegs”) and wow her bites now hurt!! It’s also a huge hit with Little Miss. She loves wearing the necklace and also chews at it.

La La Beads
