A Day In The Life Of…

This is part of Manda’s monthly linkup – A Day In The Life. I’m not sure if it was today or yesterday the actual link up date was but this month is based on Thursday May 22nd!

Little Miss woke up and I brought her into bed with us. Hubby gets up at 7.10am so it was only going to be for around 40mins.

Hubby came up to say he was off to work. Both Little Miss and myself had been sleeping since 6.30am! She was still sleeping as I got up so I let her stay in our bed whilst I had a shower. It’s amazing when you have a baby how fast you can manage to do things! I was in and out of the shower in 10mins having done my hair and everything.

Little Miss started stirring so I left her with Mam whilst I took Mam’s car to have an MOT. At the MOT Centre they told me it would be ready in 30mins. As we live next door to the garage I walked home.

After I got home I fed and dressed Little Miss and got her bag ready to head out for the day.

As I was about to head out to the garage Little Miss decided to fill her nappy and I had to change her from head to toe! So I was running late to the garage. But even so I didn’t run!

10am -11.30am

We all headed off to the tile shop and after some considerable debating between me and Mam – I own it, she’s living in it so who gets to choose the tiles?? – we agreed on a compromise. Big white tiles for the walls with a mosaic slate effect for the window sill and behind the shower. The house is in a slate mining town so I think having a slate effect would look really nice in the bathroom. As it’s quite small I wouldn’t want to put too much dark colour in there but I think this will work.

As Mam was discussing this with the shop owner I had a text message from a workmate letting me know that my Nain’s cousin had died that morning and asking if Nain had heard. I go out to phone Nain and she had just been on the phone with her cousin’s wife but she was grateful that I rang anyway. I said that I wouldn’t be able to come see her today as we needed to be back early.

We had been up to the house to drop off a couple of boxes of the tiles and I went in to see the new bathroom floor – just plywood for now as we have yet to buy carpet. But to be fair Mam and her friend did a very good job I thought! I can’t wait to see the bathroom finished which should be in 2 weeks max.

On the way home we stopped by a friends house and they got to see Little Miss again which was nice. She was all smiles for them! She’s beautiful when she smiles!

We arrived back home and I immediately changed and fed Little Miss as it had been almost 4 hours since she’d had food last. She’d been sleeping in the car whilst we were out so she didn’t notice the fact that she wasn’t getting any food! So she was pretty hungry when we got home.

Mam left to go see some friends so it was just me and Little Miss for the afternoon. We played with her toys and watched a couple of films. Whilst she was sleeping I had my lunch and watched a film – can you guess what the film was?

Mam came home and started on a chicken dinner for herself! I was going to meet hubby at the cinema so I wasn’t staying for food so I was quite jealous as Mam does a fantastic chicken dinner! She said she’d keep a plate for me so I was happy with that.

I met hubby at the cinema and we were going to see the new XMen film. The film started at 6pm so we didn’t have time to have food before going in. Hubby picked up his icecream milkshake and popcorn and I decided not to go for my Tango slushie as money is tight! Going to the cinema cost us £22 yesterday and it was just us two, it’ll be an expensive day out when Little Miss is old enough to come with us!

The film itself was actually really good. It had a lot of Wolverine (i.e. Hugh Jackman) in it and young Charles Xavier (James McAvoy). The 70s seems to suit James McAvoy! Oh and of course getting to see Hugh Jackman’s arse is ok by me!

I get a text from Mam saying that Little Miss is screaming so I text her asking if she was ok until the end of the film as there was only 30mins left. She said ok but I was to come home straight after the film. At 8.30pm the film was still going but it looked like it was approaching the end so I did a quick exit and went home. I left hubby at the cinema so he could watch the end and the end credits. (We had come in seperate cars).

I got home and Little Miss was fast asleep. But Mam had been just a bit stressed. She had tried to cook herself a chicken dinner but due to Little Miss screaming she wasn’t able to serve up dinner. She was heading out to see friends when I got back so she had left the dinner for us. I served up two dishes worth and hubby and I ate them for supper. It was really nice! My Mam sure knows how to cook!

We went to bed and I managed to change Little Miss without her waking up! She had a very small dream feed and slept through until the following morning.

So that was my day! Hope everyone has had a great weekend!

I love that the texts between you and your mam are in Welsh!

Yes, the cinema is sooo expensive now. I remember going as a kid – my mam gave me a fiver for the ticket/snacks and expected change!

I just had a quick look at my phone and everyone I text regularly I text in Welsh. Hubby is the only one I text in English. I can tell you that autocorrect is a bit of a bitch when texting in Welsh!

Yup I remember going to the cinema – £3.20 for the film, 10p for a pack of Space Raiders crisps and still coming home with £1.70! Great times weren’t they?

Your text message has me intrigued! What language is it, if you don’t mind me asking?

I did my Day in the Life a few days later because I was busy with work! Besides, when there is work, there is nothing much to write about. 😛

I can’t guess what movie you’re watching, I am so bad with movies and I don’t watch many myself. I haven’t seen any of the X-Men movies, and the only reason I sort of like Wolverine is because one of my best friends did a great job of dressing up as him for a dress-up party. XD

The text is in Welsh – it’s my first language. Although there are spelling mistakes in that message!

The movie was The Cable Guy! 😀 I didn’t really watch the other X Men movies – hubby watched them and I happened to be in the room! But I love Hugh Jackman! Hot Aussie body is always ok by me! 😀 Would love to see the fancy dress your best friend did.

Envy! I plan to watch the new Xmen movie soon. Hopefully sometime next month!

Even though I’m not a huge X Men fan I must admit that I enjoyed it. And not all because of Hugh Jackman!

I want to see the new X-Men movie SO badly! I hear great things about it and I LOVE the X-Men films, so I’m sure I’ll enjoy this one, too. Fingers crossed I’ll get a chance to see it soon!

It was good! Probably would’ve been better if I saw the end! But the main attraction for me is Hugh Jackman! I’ve persuaded Mam to go see it by telling her Jackman’s arse is very nice! 🙂 Hey I can look!
