Another long weekend

So it’s another bank holiday weekend here in the UK which means we have Monday off to celebrate May Day. Whilst I say “celebrate” I actually don’t know what May Day is! All I know is that hubby is off work on Monday! So this was the weekend so far!

During the day we went for a walk to Llanberis so I could buy a prezzie for my work colleague who was getting married on saturday. We took the dogs with us and here’s some photos (including some of the quarry hospital I mentioned in my previous photo day post).

On the way back down we passed Vivian Quarry again. I love love love this place I really do! If I won the lottery (and if planning would allow) I would love to build a house here where the current Scottish Power unit is. Of course that would need to move but I would build a beautiful glass fronted house which had these views. The only disadvantage would be that you would need to cross the road for a garden but I’m sure I could live with that. It’s only the road to the Quarry Hospital so hardly any traffic other than the staff going in and out of there. (It’s a visitor centre these days – no longer a serving hospital). It would be beautiful! Imagine this type of house but in the following setting!hey a girl can dream!

After coming home hubby’s parents came to pick up Little Miss as she was staying over at their house for the evening (so we could go to the wedding). First time for her to be staying away from home and for us to be staying away from her! It was a weird experience!

We got ourselves ready to go to the wedding evening do. I don’t wear dresses or skirts only to special occasions such as weddings so I got to wear my lovely purple dress again! And my lovely strappy shoes I got on sale for £35!! One of my best fashion purchases!

My colleague looked lovely in her dress! It was a white lace long sleeved style dress which I found to be different to the usual style. I don’t want to post a photo of her here as I don’t think it’d be fair without her knowing! I forgot to ask her what her dress was as I didn’t see much of her. She apologised to me on Facebook today for not speaking much to me (bless!) but I told her not to be silly! I know full well how it is on your day – trying to do the rounds and see everyone but somehow not seeing anyone either!

We didn’t know many people at the wedding except for the bride and groom. I spotted our neighbours from where we used to live (oh how I miss them! I wish I could move them next door here!) and had a catchup with them which was nice. There was a buffet being served which consisted of pork scratchings, prawn cocktail served on lettuce leaves, chicken wings, new potatoes, something similar to a pork pie, sandwiches and pickled veg. I found it to be a rather odd combination but I thoroughly enjoyed the pork scratchings!

By around 10pm hubby had had 3 pints of lager and he was a bit bored. There was excellent music provided by the DJ (another work colleague who was the DJ at our wedding also) but no one was dancing. I don’t dance – I have no sense of rhythm and can’t stand making a tit of myself on the dance floor and there is no amount of money in the world that would make me dance. Hubby loves dancing so he was rather gutted that no one was on the dance floor. We decided to call it a night and headed for home. I couldn’t find the bride to wish her well so I sent her a message on Facebook today instead.

After getting home, hubby decided to have a top up of Jack Daniels and coke whilst I had a cup of tea (proper hardcore me!). I put on some music and he danced around the kitchen with the dog! I just sat at the kitchen table watching him enjoying himself and it struck me again just how handsome he is in a suit! 🙂

After a bit of dancing hubby watched Match of the Day before we went to bed. He slept really well (was a bit tipsy and the drink always helps him to sleep although it does cause him to snore!). I didn’t sleep too well because my shoulder was in agony! It was so painful that at 3am I woke up and had to take some painkillers.

Well we had a bit of a lie in since Little Miss was at Nain and Taid’s. But in the end I has to get up as I was working. Yes you heard correct – working on a Sunday whilst off on maternity. My boss rang me on Friday to ask if I was able to do a set of accounts for him and I volunteered to go in today. I did 4 hours worth of work and managed to do most of it but not all of it.

After coming home hubby was looking after Little Miss – who had been cranky with her Nain and Taid (so not just us then)! They were having a bit of a snooze so I decided to make some cakes!

And that’s pretty much it for today! We have some plans tomorrow which I’ll share with you in the next couple of days if we go ahead. Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

I love them! Plus I got them on offer – £35 instead of £120 in the Debenhams sale over a year ago! Bought the shoes and then had to find a dress to go with them!

Haha I feel like I’m a mix of you and your husband. I’m a terrible dancer, but give me alcohol and I’ll dance with the best of them (awfully, but still out there dancing.) I LOVE the idea for the [if you win the lottery] home. I have one of those except it’s an old abandoned mansion that I believe isn’t even structurally sound. But I’m still obsessed with its beauty!

    Also, looooved your outfit!

Haha well if you’re ever drunk and over here be sure to dance with my hubby! He loves cheesy dancing! 😀 And thank you – I like the dress as well!!

I’ll never get the house as I don’t even try the lottery! But hey I can dream right? If you have a photo of your abandoned mansion please share! I’d love to see it!

haha deal, but you’ll have to take pictures for black mail because my dancing is horrible despite what my drunk self thinks 🙂 I play once in a blue moon, so if I win enough – we’ll both get our mansions 🙂 I’ll send you a pic on twitter of it. I drive by it every so often thinking maybe the owner will sell it (fat chance!)

Awesome I’ll look forward to watching the dancing!! 😀 Seen the pic – looks great! Always a shame to see these big houses derelict.
