This month I’m taking part in #Blogtober14…. join in…. with Helene and Taylor

Day 11. If I Were President Prime Minister…
(UK doesn’t have a President… we have a Prime Minister)

UK Welfare System

I’ve had this discussion before and I remember that one thing we (a co-worker and I) would do is sort out the UK’s welfare system. We got so annoyed with the fact that the current system just paves the way for scroungers. I am all for helping those in need but when those who get benefits (i.e. money from the Government for free!) have everything given to them on a plate whilst I’m struggling working full time, there must be something wrong. I am not going to get into this topic here because the more I think about it the angrier and more bitter I become.

4 Day Working Week

I would sort out some new working hour regulations so that everyone who works have a 4 day working week and a 3 day weekend. To me this seem a more balanced system. I’m not quite sure how this would work but hey I’d sort it out!

Dog Licences

In the UK at the moment there seems to be a lot of dangerous dogs. There have been numerous dog attacks on children. I’m pretty sure that back in the 80s you had to have a licence to own a dog. I think I would bring this system back in to try and reduce the numbers of illegal (read: dangerous) dogs out there.

(Don’t get me wrong I LOVE dogs and believe that all dog breeds can be good or bad dogs depending on how they’ve been treated.)

Parenting Skills Tests

I am not a perfect parent and I believe that no-one will ever be the perfect parent. The only thing I wish for is that every parent at least tries their best for their child. With that in mind I think parenting skills should be taught at school somehow. I know you can’t stop people having kids but jesus there are some people who really shouldn’t have kids!!

Formula 1

Silverstone would be free to attend!!!!

What would you do if you were President/Prime Minister?

The 4 day week one is my favourite I think!

“We got so annoyed with the fact that the current system just paves the way for scroungers.” Unfortunately this is a problem in the US as well. Yes to parent tests as well!

I guess it’s true for any country with a welfare system. I totally agree there’s a place for it to protect those who genuinely need it but doesn’t it annoy you so much?!

Parenting tests is the way forward!

I love the parenting skill point. American high schools and colleges do offer parenting classes, but they’re not mandatory. Maybe less people would leave their kids in hot cars if that course was mandatory.

I think that’s great you have parenting classes! There’s nothing like that here…. or there didn’t use to be anyway. I saw a video recently about people leaving kids in hot cars. I just couldn’t believe it!!!
