Day 28 Prompt – Things I’m Superstitious About

I’m not a very superstitious person to be honest. The only thing I’m mildly superstitious about are opening crisp packets.. I won’t open a packet of crisps upside down for fear of bad luck. I have no idea where that came from but it’s just one of those weird quirks about me!

However I do have a superstitious family. I noticed this whilst I was pregnant last year. We ordered a pram and lots of baby paraphenelia before baby arrived. The first thing my Mam, Dad and Nain said to me was to not bring a pram into the house before baby is born. Whilst I can understand where the supersitision stems from but it just wasn’t practical for us. When I found out I was pregnant I looked into how to get the dogs on board and found this awesome “Mutternity” article by the Dogs Trust. One piece of advice was to bring baby stuff into the house before baby so the dogs could get used to new and strange objects before having a baby disrupt them as well. So with that in mind we had to bring the pram in since this would be the biggest thing that would affect them – it would accompany us on walks so it was a must!

Are you superstitious at all?

Sorry for such a short post today but I’ve got to go back to work!!

Your superstition’s truly hilarious, I’d never heard about it before! Mine’s the typical one about passing down a staircase since I failed my exams in high school if I dared to do it (and never again since then!).

I don’t even know where that superstition came from!! Now that you mention it I also won’t pass on a staircase in case it bring me bad luck. But I guess you have a better reason than me to believe in that one!
