Day 5. Your Fall Autumn Bucket List

Sorry! I really really had to do that! We don’t refer to this season as Fall in the UK. Here we call it Autumn… or actually in Wales it’s “Hydref”.

I love this time of year because of the colours and weather but there isn’t much going on other than that really. But I’ve been thinking about this yesterday and came up with a few items that I want to do over October and November.

Guy Fawkes Night
On November 5th the UK celebrates what is known as Guy Fawkes Night or simply Bonfire Night. Legend has it that Guy Fawkes had planned to blow up the Houses of Parliament. His plot was foiled and he was prosecuted. Ever since then on Nobember 5th, edverywhere in the UK makes a bonfire and burns a Guy effigy. This is accompanied by fabulous fireworks displays (presumably to symbolise the explosives he was going to use to blow up Parliament.

I haven’t been to a bonfire night gathering for years! I honestly cannot remember when we went last. I certainly haven’t been since moving in with hubby and I don’t think I’ve been since being with him which means I’ve not been for at least 6 years!

So this year I want to go! I want to take Little Miss to see a fireworks display. I’m not sure how it’ll go with the noise but we shall give it a go! We might go to the Biwmares display which will take place by the castle. (Kelly – this is yet another castle not the same one in my Photo Days post)!

I’ve always loved conkers as a child! For me it is the epitome of Autumn. Of course now as an adult I no longer play the game of conkers. But I want to collect some conkers to make some spider repellents! One of my friends on Facebook said she’d made some conker decorations to put around the house to warn off spiders. Apparently oils released as they decay are a spider deterrent. I’m going to give it a go!

Hickory’s Steakhouse
I want to revisit Hickory’s Steakhouse. We went there last weekend and oh my god the food was just to die for! We want to revisit soon and I’m in the middle of trying to organise a birthday bash for hubby for the beginning of November.

Sorting Out The Clutter
Now that Autumn is here and Winter on the way I need to go through my wardrobe to see if any summer clothes can be out away. To be honest probably not since there is not much difference between my Winter and Summer clothing. I do need to go through my jeans though since none of my jeans fit anymore. Which leads me on to….

Lose Weight
It’s official! I NEED to lose weight! I’ve been gradually been putting weight on over the past few weeks. The Chinese food and the little Twix Mix packets are not helping! If truth be told I’m tempted to start running since everyone seems to be at it! I’ll let you know if there’s any progress there!

We’re off on holiday in a week or so. It’s the first time we’ll be going abroad with Little Miss so we need to pack everything ready for her. MUST get that done today! Once on holibobs we want it to be successful so here’s hoping that both Little Miss and I can cope with the hot weather!

New Design
I also would like to get a new design for the blog. I’ve had this one for a couple of months now and whilst I do like it I’m now a bit bored of it. Not sure what I’ll go for next. Something more Autumnal or prepare for Winter/Christmas maybe.

How about you? What’s on your Autumn/Fall bucket list?

I miss bonfire night. A fireworks display at a castle sounds so cool!

I’ve heard that about conkers warding off spiders, but never tried it. What I need is something to ward of fruit flies. They’re driving me insane!

I’ve never been to this display but I googled it and the photos look stunning! Well I’ll let you know if the conkers work! Not sure about fruit flies though!

It is fun! I don’t know why I haven’t been for years! Well partly it’s because of the dogs. They get scared with the loud noises. But I’m determined to go this year.

This is an awesome list! I also had no idea that in the UK this season is not referred to as “fall.” You learn something new every day! 🙂

Thanks… It’s a simple list which hopefully means it’s achievable. There’s a lot of different words in the UK. Considering that both countries speak English it’s amazing the difference.
