So today I had actually planned a F1 update post about the Belgian and Italian GP but after the fab day I had on Monday I couldn’t wait to share this with you!
On Monday Mark Webber was at Waterstones Trafford Centre to sign his autobiography titled “Aussie Grit”. The official release date is today (10th) but Waterstones had 70 advance copies for the event. They were rationing them to 1 per person!
He wasn’t due at the shop until 1pm and would only be there until 1.45pm as he had to dash off somewhere. So as you can imagine – time was precious. I got to the shop by around 10.45am and found that people were already queuing up! Just to make sure I’d get his book signed I joined the queue. Hubby left me there to go do some shopping – not sure if it was a good idea to let him loose in Trafford Centre armed with my credit card!!
I got chatting some people in the queue – a nice young man from Uttoxeter was next to me and we had a nice long chat about Formula 1 – current state, since when we’ve been fans, who do we rate etc. It’s fantastic when you meet like minded people!
Anyhow, here are some photos of me waiting…. as you can see hubby fully captured my excitement!
And here’s me with the man himself! The guy at Waterstones said he was only signing books since time was limited but Mark did sign my book and the replica helmet! He’s just awesome! I told him I’d bumped into him twice before but never actually got to stand next to him! So I was very pleased!
After he’d signed and I was moved on one lady next to me was a bit miffed that she hadn’t had a good photo with him so wanted to rejoin the queue. I said I’d go with her because she didn’t want to stand on her own! So we went and joined the back of the queue – a couple of others did as well because they felt they’d been rushed a bit. Had a good laugh with them! And got another photo with Mark. As I walked out of the shop I spotted Ann Neal (Mark’s partner) and she very kindly posed for a selfie! (I’m not normally a selfie girl but I had no one to take my photo!
Oh and no he didn’t comment on my hoodie! I didn’t remember I was wearing it when I was with him as it’s my fave hoodie and I wear it pretty much everyday! Here’s the goodies! The signed replica helmet and the book DEDICATED to me!!!
(I am well aware how much of a manic stalker I look but honestly I’m not that bad!)
Sounds like you had a fantastic time! I went to a MotoGp meet and greet a couple of weeks ago. Shame I didn’t get any memorabilia signed but got one of their posters with their signature! I know the feeling…I was jumping up and down with excitement through the whole event.
It was great! Sounds like you had a good time at the MotoGP event as well! I’ve never watched any MotoGP.
Mark Webber is totally hot! I love the jumper you were wearing too 🙂
It would be a pity if he didn’t notice the hoodie 😀
That must have been amazing 🙂
Still can’t believe it happened!
Hehe I think he did notice because there’s one photo where he looks scared!!
I completely agree! It’s my favourite jumper!
