As the schools break up for Easter holidays it got me thinking of what Easter activities are there around Snowdonia this Easter. After scrolling through the internet (thank you Google search!) I give you my list of Easter egg hunts here in North Wales. I’m giving you a list of 8 Easter Egg hunts I want to go to but alas, I can’t go to them all! So take a look at the list, and tell me in the comments, which ones do you think I should go to?
1) Dragon’s Egg Easter Quest
Are you brave enough to venture into the castle walls to look for dragon eggs? Track down the dragon* to claim your prize! Caernarfon Castle are hosting Easter Egg Hunts 3 times a day on the 31st March and 1st April.
* not the dragon family as they’ve gone on holiday!
2) Penrhyn Castle
Not quite a castle but an impressive stately home. Hunt for Cadbury Easter eggs around the house and grounds of this impressive building. The event is on from March 24th through to April 8th so you have plenty of time to attend. My girls are going on this hunt today!
3) Harlech Castle
Not only is the Easter Egg hunt being held but the Ardudwy Knights will be at Harlech Castle on 1st and 2nd April. There’s going to be archery, weapon demonstrations and combat displays.
4) Rheilffordd Llyn Padarn
If castles and stately homes isn’t your thing then how about an Easter egg hunt on rails? Llanberis Lake Railway is hosting their Easter egg hunt on 1st and 2nd April! We attended last year’s event and despite the gloomy weather we enjoyed ourselves.
5) Bodnant Garden
Another egg hunt is happening on 1st and 2nd April over at Bodnant Garden. Complete the trail to win your chocolatey prize! If you think there’s too much chocolate then alternatively you can follow the Running Rabbit’s Trail anytime from 24th March to 14th April. I’m tempted to do this Easter egg hunt this year as I’ve never been to Bodnant Garden.
6) Mountain Escapses Easter Egg Hunt at Rhosydd Quarry
This one is a new one for me but it sounds fab! It’s a ramble up to and around Rhosydd Quarry above Blaenau Ffestiniog. Hunt down the eggs and keep your eyes peeled for that special golden egg! It’s all happening on April 1st so be sure to book your place!
7) Plas Newydd
It’s another Cadbury’s Easter Egg Hunt over at Plas Newydd between March 30th and April 2nd. Not only that, there’s also some woodland fun and games on March 28th including the Humpty Dumpty Challenge.
8) Amgueddfa Llechi
Last but certainly not least, go on an Easter egg hunt through the workshops at the Slate Museum. The event is on between 28th March to 3rd April. I can guarantee that we’ll be attending this one! I’m hoping to do this one and the Llyn Padarn Railway one at the same time.
I’ve not given you the prices for these hunts as some events are free if you’re members of Cadw or the National Trust. I would advise having a look at the websites before going.
