I can, occasionally, get somewhat obsessive with films where I’ll watch it over and over, devour all the information I can about it (which generally means reading everything about the film on IMDB.com) and buy/listen to the soundtracks on a constant loop! The last film I did this with was Pitch Perfect (but that’s another story). The current film I’m doing this with is Guardians of the Galaxy. In fact we’re going to see it again for the third time this evening! (It’s our wedding anniversary so we have a babysitter!)
If you’ve been living in a cave and not heard of Guardians of the Galaxy (seriously, where’ve you been?!), it’s the next instalment of the Marvel series. Hubby had wanted to go see it for a while but I wasn’t convinced. In the end I caved and went to see it. I didn’t expect much of it since usually I don’t believe the hype but in this instance I was pleasantly surprised! I LOVED IT!!
The basic plot of the movie is
After stealing a mysterious orb in the far reaches of outer space, Peter Quill is now the main target of a manhunt led by the villain known as Ronan the Accuser. To help fight Ronan and his team and save the galaxy from his power, Quill creates a team known as the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ to save the world.

Zoe Saldana films are normally enjoyable (even Avatar was enjoyable but I wasn’t fooled by the hype) so having her playing Gamora was great! She’s so super buff! And pretty! Vin Diesel provided the voice of Groot – he only says one line though the whole film – “I Am Groot”. And Vin Diesel had to record the line over 1000 times! He’s also said that playing the role helped him through the tough time after the death of Paul Walker. Aww bless! Bradley Cooper provided the voice of Rocket – I wouldn’t have recognised his voice! It’s so gritty and doesn’t sound like him at all! Dave Batista played Drax. He’s a good actor – I suppose all wrestlers are really! Lee Pace plays the villain, Ronin. He has started to establish himself as a nice villain – he was awesome as Ronin and even though Thranduil (The Hobbit) isn’t necessarily evil, he portrays him as a bit of a git which works really well!
The music is awesome! And we’ve bought the soundtrack. It’s pretty much been on repeat for the past week. If you fancy a listen the soundtrack is called “Awesome Mix Vol 1″. It features songs from the 70s and it’s just, as it says on the tin, AWESOME!! Our favourite songs on the album is “Come Get Your Love” and “Cherry Bomb”. Honestly it’s worth a listen!
I know this isn’t much of a review (I’d be useless as a reviewer) but all I can say is, go see it if you can. You won’t be disappointed!
