There’s so many different Santa Grottos in Snowdonia this year so I’m going to run through just some of my faves!
Top of the list has to be the Amgueddfa Lechi / National Slate Museum. Santa will be setting up his grotto at the Quarrymen Houses (Fron Haul) Their Christmas Fair and Santa visit is happening on December 2nd.
It’s a fun day out for all the family with story-telling, face painting and Christmas crafts. Not only that but Deiniolen Silver Band will be at hand with festive music.
The big man himself will be in his cosy grotto in the Quarrymen’s Houses. He’ll be there between 11am – 3.45pm. It’s £3.50 per child and I would recommend booking in advance – book online, pop in or give the museum a call on 02920 573711.
The annual Portmeirion Food and Craft Fair will be held over the three days 30/11 – 2/12. We attended for the first time last year and loved it! So many wonderful stalls selling local(ish) produce and homemade crafts. If last year is anything to go by, I would advise for you to get there early so you can enjoy strolling around Portmeirion village without the crowds. Entry to the Food and Craft fair is £7 each (kids under 12 go free!)
Not only have you got this going on, but you also have the Santa’s Grotto in the woodland. You’ll need to buy your tickets on the day and get in there early as the Santa visits fill up fast. The Santa visit costs £3 per child.
(The Santa Grotto is happening each weekend up to Christmas so there’s plenty of opportunity to see Santa without the Food and Craft Fair crowds)
Greenwood Forest Park
This year Greenwood have an Enchanted Christmas evening events happening on weekends (and certain Wednesdays) in December. You will receive an invite in the post from Santa together with a magical passport which you will need to bring with you. Once you arrive at Greenwood, you will have the opportunity to decorate your own gingerbread man, walk through a Winter Wonderland before meeting Santa in his Log Cabin. But that’s not all, you will also receive a cup of hot chocolate/mulled wine and a golden ticket to spend in the toy shop.
Tickets cost £18 per child and £5 per adult. Pre booking is essential and you can do this by visiting their website.
Fron Goch Garden Centre
Fron Goch Garden Centre are ready to celebrate Christmas! Last week they had a few reindeer on sight and they were beautiful creatures! However if you want to see the main man then there’s two options at Fron Goch Garden Centre this year. There’s Breakfast with Santa or Afternoon Tea with Santa.
Tickets for the event are £9.99 and you will have either a cooked breakfast or afternoon tea included. Pre-book via their website and be quick… it’s selling out fast!
On 8th, 9th 15th, 16th December 2018 Santa will be heading down to Gypsy Wood and setting up his grotto in the fairy cabin. The park will be open between 3.30pm and 7pm and most activities will be on offer. Woody the train will be steaming around the site and hot food and drinks will be served at the Dragon Cafe.
Prior booking isn’t necessary but if you pre-book online you will receive a 10% discount! So why not eh?
This is just a small selection of I don’t know how he manages it but Santa has got a packed schedule in North Wales!
