2025 Bucket List

Every year I start by thinking about the things I would like to do in that year. Gives me something to aim for and look forward to. I used to have two separate lists – one for railway stuff, and one for non railway stuff – but this year I’ve combined them. So with that in mind here’s my 2025 Bucket List…

Disneyland California

(By the time this post went live we had already been! So here’s a photo of me with Lightning McQueen!)

The biggest thing on the list is a trip to Disneyland California! It’s the biggest and top of the list because it’s already been booked and paid for. Really looking forward to seeing the original Disneyland and more than anything to see Carsland at Disney’s California Adventure.

(By the time I made this post live we had already been! Videos are appearing over on YouTube.)

Ffestiniog Railway Platinum Jubilee

Top of the list on the railway front is to see/film the FR’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend. Who’d have though it? It’s 70 years since start of preservation on the Ffestiniog Railway. The weekend promises to be quite spectacular with the 200 Wheels Calvacade happening on the Cob. I’m privy to some information which I’m not allowed to share yet… Really looking forward to that!

Train TikTokers Meetup at the Severn Valley Railway

Erlestoke Manor at the Severn Valley Railway

Another railway item on the list is the Train TikTokers Meetup which is happening on the Severn Valley Railway in April. There’s a good group of us meeting up to spend a day on the SVR. Will include trips on the trains, a tour of the diesel depot and chatting with like minded people. Should be good fun… and supporting the SVR as well.

Falkirk Wheel & Kelpies

Oh this is something I hope to do this year. I’ve been wanting to see the Falkirk Wheel in action for a long time. I’m not narrowboat fanatical but I have always thought I liked canals. Maybe it’s after walking the Ponytcysyllte Aquaduct with Dad & Taid as a child. Anyway I digress… not sure how I came across the Falkirk Wheel but it looks AMAZING! And then right next door you have the Kelpies… massive iron horses. I think it’s a must to see these one day and that day will be in 2025!

Visit a New To Me Standard Gauge Railway

Another railway item on the bucket list is to visit a new-to-me standard gauge railway. Last year it was the Severn Valley Railway but this year I’m hoping for the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. I recently watched Andy’s video (Smog on The Line – check out his YouTube channel… it’s fab!) and it’s given me a bit of wonderlust. I’ve had a look and it looks like it’s a dog friendly railway as well so I think our little railway pup will have to tag along.

Be a Better B/Vlogger

I know I’ve been neglecting the blog over the last couple of months. Partly because I felt like I was speaking to no-one and partly because YouTube took over. But I’ve realised that I actually do enjoy writing this little blog of mine so I’m going to carry on. So my aim is to:

  • Publish a (non F1) blog post every month
  • Publish a new video every week

Having said that I really love the video producing as well (even if hardly anyone watches them!) so I aim to put a new video out every week. I film absolutely everything so I should have plenty to be able to choose from. Now one thing I did consider was streamlining my YouTube channel to just trains/railway stuff but to be honest, I don’t want to. I have eclectic interests and so my channel will be the same. Yes I might lose followers but I’m doing it for me mostly. My aim was never to become a YouTuber and thankfully I don’t rely on the (lack of) income from it. I want to carry on with it as I’ve connected with some really wonderful people thanks to social media.

So only 5 items the 2025 Bucket List. Not going to overload it and keep it manageable!
