Day 8. Letter to Myself in 10 Years Time
This is an interesting subject which required some thinking. So over the past two weeks I’ve been thinking about it and this is what I came up with….
Well by now you will be 40 years old – oh wow that sounds so old! You will have been married for 12 years and hopefully you are still as happy as ever.
By now Little Miss will be almost 10 years old, and if things went to plan MrMostyn (i.e. kiddiwink number 2) should be around 8 years old. If things didn’t go to plan and MrMostyn didn’t happen then I hope that the three of you are a happy family unit. I really hope that you didn’t have to go through IVF treatments because as at today, it’s something you didn’t want to do. Unless MrMostyn happens naturally then it just wasn’t meant to be.
I’m also hoping that Megs and Gemma will still be around. If they are then they will be almost 15 years old (which is apparently 105 in dog years). I can’t imagine that they would survive much longer than this so no doubt you will be worrying about that inevitable day when you’ll have to make the decision of whether to end their lives or not. I’m really really hoping that they will pass naturally and not suffer. I really hope that you won’t have to end their lives. But remember, as hard it may be, it may be the best thing for them. Although you’ve been through it before, I don’t think it’ll be any easier the next time around. In fact it’ll be harder because
a) it’ll bring back all those memories of Jimmy Jones,
b) you’ll have to support your husband through it because I’m telling you, it’ll hit him for six and
c) you’ll have to explain to Little Miss why dogs die and support her through the grief. Hopefully this will be her first real experience of a death in the family.
On to happier things! I really do hope that you’ve been able to move house again – or have quieter neighbours! Not that you’re current neighbours are bad but they’re just loud! You’ll remember who I mean! Their kids will be pushing their 20s now so I just hope that they’ve become more sensible with age (although I somewhat doubt it). Ideally you will have moved house and be living in the middle of a field with just cows for company!
No doubt you’ll still be working at the same firm. I wonder what changes will have happened in 10 years time. Has anyone retired or is everyone still going strong. You said you’d retire when you get to 50 so only another 10 years to go! Exciting times ahead!
All I really hope is that the 10 years that have now passed were a happy 10 years.
What would you put in a letter to yourself?
