After visiting the Slate Museum yesterday the mountains of Blaenau Ffestiniog was calling me*. I had to take the girls up to see the snow. It's not something we get here often.

We came over the Crimea Pass just to see these views...

Wedi cael bore gwych yn yr Amgueddfa Lechi. Sion Corn yn cyrraedd ar y trên, gwneud pomanders gyda Hanna, amser stori gyda Sian Corn, cyfarfod Sion Corn, Côr Meibion Penrhyn, Seindorf Deiniolen, trip ar y trên bach ac wrth gwrs cael mynd i Fron Haul eto. Dyddiau da!

Had a wonderful morning at the National Slate Museum! Santa arriving by train, making pomanders with Hannah, story time with Sian Corn, meeting Santa, Penrhyn Male Voice Choir, Deiniolen Silver Band, trip on a miniature train, and of course going to From Haul again. Happy days!

Dwy flynedd ers i ni golli Nain. Nain a fi yn mêts tan y diwedd. Ond dyma i chi lun o Noswyl Nadolig 2020. Credu oedden ni yn byw o dan rheolau lockdown ar y pryd ac oeddwn wedi mynd a llysiau fyny iddi. Yr hug dwi’n gael yna ydi y “watcha be fo am y rheolau cofid ma, Dwi isio cuddle” - wel pwy oeddwn i i ffraeo hefo Matriarch ein teulu. Gen i fwy o feddwl o’i geiriau hi na unrhyw tinpot politician yn dweud wrthai mod i ddim yn cael rhoi hug i teulu.

Beth bynnag… fi a Nain, Nain a fi! Methu hi mwy nag erioed ar hyn o bryd.

Two years since we lost Nain. Nain and I were mates until the end. But here's a picture for you from Christmas Eve 2020. I think we were living under lockdown rules at the time and I had brought vegetables to her. The hug I get is the "sod what the rules say, I want a cuddle" - well who was I to argue with the Matriarch of our family. I think more of her words than any tinpot politician telling her that I'm not allowed to hug family.

Anyway… me and Nain, Nain and me! I miss her more than ever at the moment.

Fyddai ar y ffordd yna fory ond tro ma ddim hefo tren. Tro ma dwi'n mynd yn y fan hefo criw Rheilffordd Ffestiniog.

Throwback Thursday! This was taken approx a year agor when I was on my way to Warley Model Railway Exhibition at the NEC. I only attended for a day last year.

Tomorrow I'll be on my way back there but this time not by train. This time I'll be in the van with the Ffestiniog Railway crew.

Ddaru'r genod atgoffa fi ddoe ein bod ni heb fod yn nofio yn Dolrhedyn eleni. Rheswm am hynny ydi bod y tywydd eleni wedi bod yn erchyll!! Dim ffit i fynd nofio mewn llyn mynydd. Er wedi dweud hynny sa ni ella wedi gallu mynd yn y "wet suits". Damia! Rhaid i mi wneud yn well flwyddyn nesaf.

The girls reminded me yesterday that we haven't been swimming in Dolrehdyn this year. Reason for this is the weather has been atrocious!! Not suitable for mountain lake swimming. Although having said that I suppose we could've gone in wetsuits. Dammit! Must do better next year.

While I had some time to myself today I went for a walk along the old Padarn Railway line.

A dyna ni! James Spooner wedi’w enwi! Llwyddiant mawr i’r Rheilffordd a llongyfarchiadau mawr i pawb fuodd yn rhan o grey yr injan yma.

Er y glaw, mi oedd hi’n ddiwrnod gwych! Mynd ar ei hol o Borthmadog i Tanygrisiau. Arni wedyn i fyny i Blaenau i cael bod yno ar gyfer y seremoni enwi. Anrhydedd mawr cael bod yno!

A rhaid i mi son am blant bach Ysgol Maenofferen ddaru ganu yn wych! Nes i fwynhau y bennill dwythaf yn fawr! Seithfed nef!

And that's it! James Spooner has been named! A big success for the Railway and big congratulations to everyone who was part of the creating this engine.

Despite the rain, it was a great day! Going after it from Porthmadog to Tanygrisiau. Then up to Blaenau to be there for the naming ceremony. Such a privilege to be there.

And I must mention the little children of Ysgol Maenofferen who sang brilliantly! I really enjoyed the last verse! Seventh heaven!

Rheilffordd gwahanol i’r arfer. Rheilffordd clogwyn cytbwys dŵr yn Ganolfan y Dechnoleg Amgen yn Pantperthog ger Machynlleth.

Mae’r Ganolfan ar safle hen Chwarel Lechi Llwyngwern. Heb fod yma ers pan o’n i’n blentyn. Ond yr atgof fwyaf sydd gen i ydi rheilffordd yma. Blynyddoedd wedyn Dwi wedi sefyll yma yn gwylio’r system a dwi dal yn cael fy swyno ganddi.

A different railway than usual. A water balanced cliff railway at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Pantperthog near Machynlleth.

The Center is on the site of the old Llwyngwern Slate Quarry. Haven't been here since I was a kid. But the biggest memory I have is a railway here. Years later I've stood here watching the system and I'm still fascinated by it.

Am dro i Chwarel Dinorwig heddiw. Am le anhygoel! Er mod i wedi cerdded tua 3 milltir tydi o ddim yn dangos hanner y lle. Mae’r lle yn enfawr! A rhaid i mi ddweud, mod i yn casau ffensys!!

A walk to Dinorwig Quarry today. What an amazing place! Even though I've walked about 3 miles it doesn't show half the place. The place is huge!

And I have to say, that I hate fences!!

This time last week we were busy setting up our stand at the 009 model railway show at Statfold Barn.
