The 2018 Wales Airshow is happening in four weeks down in beautiful Swansea Bay. It promises to be an action packed weekend suitable for the whole family.
The 2018 line up so far features:
- the return of the RAF Typhoon Eurofighter an £80m fighter plane. It’s one of the most advanced fighter planes in the world.
- the infamous RAF Red Arrows display team (who I’ve had the pleasure to watch once at Silverstone)
- Battle of Britain Memorial Flight – part of the RAF 100 centenary celebrations showcasing three of the planes still in the air 70 years after the battle. The three planes making an appearance are the Supermarine Spitfire, Hawker Hurricane and Avro Lancaster
- Catalina Flying Boat – another WWII veteran plane will be making an appearance. Famous for it’s use as a water bomber fighting forest fires in Canada.
Last year the show saw over 250,000 people from far an wide attend the Wales Airshow. No doubt the fabulous weather helped. I’m not sure if I can attend this year
but just in case you can, there are some fabulous holiday rentals down that end to stay in. Here’s my top 4 cottages:
Plas Gambo
Oh my word how amazing does this house look? It’s so sleek and modern looking – I especially love the Big Pit photo on the wall. There’s 3 bedrooms and sleeps 6 so perfect if you’re taking friends and family along to the Wales Airshow. It’s also in an ideal location – situated in woodlands yet only 10 miles from Swansea Bay.
Graig Noddfa
Approximately 30 mins away from Swansea you’ll find this little gem of a terraced cottage. Sleeps 5 people and up to 3 pets so I could even take Megs and Gemma along. The views from the back garden are stunning! Swap those vino glasses for a couple of cans of Vimto and I’m there!
Bwthyn Felgaws
What a fabulous name! This one translates as “honeycheese cottage”. About 30mins into the valleys this very spacious cottage sleeps 4 people and offers wifi – perfect for families like ours. Plenty of room for the girls to play, close enough to Swansea but not in the town centre either.
There are plenty of cottages and holiday lets to choose from at Wales Cottage Holidays. So if you fancy going to the Wales Airshow then why not have a browse and see if you can find yourself a stunning holiday let.
Have you ever been to an airshow?

I would LOVE to do an airshow, it would be such a great day out.

I have a slight obsession with planes so this looks amazing. We often end up sticking with boring hotels when we stay away in the UK so thank you for sharing some great alternatives. We’ll be checking them out! Lisa

Ok so I admit to zero interest in planes, but nonetheless cottage is now on my radar. I looked at the name and fell in love 😍. Seriously I love Wales so will look at this cottage for a future trio x
We’ve booked cottages in Wales and they’ve always been lovely. Never thought of doing it to coincide with an airshow though, I think we’d enjoy that.
