David (you know, of DadVWorld fame) asked an interesting question on his Instagram recently – what are your best qualities? It’s interesting to think about it. It’s always easy to focus on the negatives isn’t it? Anyway, after some thinking I came up with that I chat to anyone.
A Conversation with a Random Stanger
Just before Christmas I went to Asda to stock up on some Christmas presents and I was stood in the beer and wine aisle. I don’t drink and so alcohol means nothing to me. So my face had that “confused-what-the-hell-is-the-difference-between-that-bottle-and-that-bottle” look on it when some random stranger asked if he could help me. Anyway we started chatting and 5 minutes later we wished each other Merry Christmas and walked away. I’ll probably never see him again but for 5 minutes we had a chat.
Now I’m not trying to say this guy had an impact on my life nor I had on his, but I guess this anecdote just goes to show that, anyone can strike up a conversation with anyone.
But I’m Really Shy!
But I also think I’m shy. When I said this to David his response was “Shy. My arse!” Haha that made me giggle. I was discussing this with someone in the office and we thought that this ability to strike a conversation comes with age. I agree because looking back to me starting at the office (15 years ago!) I would say I was shy! I still consider myself to be shy. Maybe not in a one-on-one sort of situation but more in a group of people situation. I find it worse going up to people I know and talking to them than a random stranger. Prime example of this is at somewhere like BlogOn when I spot maybe a blogger I kinda recognise but don’t have the guts to go talk to them.
Anyhow, this blog post has no purpose whatsoever! It was just a random thought.
