Ah so it would seem that holidays abroad are still out of the question for 2021. I must admit, I don’t feel confident about travelling outside the UK for a while but that’s fine because there are so many fab places to visit within the UK! Today I’m sharing a few ideas of South England staycations for 2021 including Cornwall, Devon, Gloucestershire to name but a few. Here are some ideas of places to visit and things to do in each area.<\/p>\n

Cornwall<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Ah Cornwall! Famous for it’s pasties possibly but that’s not the only reason to visit! The place is full of history and culture like you wouldn’t believe? Did you know that Cornwall has it’s own language? The Cornish language (Kernewek)<\/a> is seeing a revival (not quite at a par with Welsh yet but it’s getting there!) and I would love to know more. From the very little I know of it, it sounds very similar to Welsh so there’s hope I could learn some.<\/p>\n

Another place I’d love to visit is Tintangel Castle<\/a>. Ever since seeing it in Merlin I have been fascinated with the place! It looks so pretty and definitely a must visit! There’s also a pretty fine bridge to crossover as well.<\/p>\n

Devon<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"Torquay\"<\/p>\n

Top of the list is the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway<\/a> based on the North Devon coast. Oh of course I’d want to visit here! No matter where I end up you can guarantee I will find my way to a heritage railway! Ah but not only is the LPR here but also the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway<\/a> is here. Ever since I saw Rob Bell take a trip on it I’ve wanted to visit. It’s the steepest and highest water powered railway in the world! Yes it’s all about the railways for me!<\/p>\n

And let’s not forget places in South Devon like Torquay (pictured). Some amazing villages and towns along the South Coast combined with a sunnier climate has quite rightly been dubbed the English Riviera!<\/p>\n

Cotswolds<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Let’s not forget the Cotswolds! After watching a few Instagram stories last year (specifically Life With Bugo<\/a>‘s stories were amazing!) I wanted to visit. As it happens, I do have a trip to the Cotswolds coming up in a month or so. Some places that’s a must is Bourton on the Water where you can spend time exploring the village with all of it’s lovely little bridges – hence why it’s dubbed the “Venice of the Cotswolds”.<\/p>\n

We always tend to visit a National Trust property as well and I’ve been told that Snowshill Manor<\/a> is a good one to visit. Beautiful architecture and an impressive collection of curiousities.<\/p>\n

Now of course no trip is complete for me without a trip on a heritage railway. There’s a few in the area<\/a> but the one I have booked is the Dean Forest Railway<\/a>. Looking forward to it!<\/p>\n

(I can’t stress this enough, when travelling be it whilst on staycations in the UK or abroad, please be sure to familiarise yourself with the local rules in relation to Covid. Each of the home nations here in the UK have differing rules. I encourage everyone to explore but do so safely!)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
