Now if you know nothing about cars then I&#8217;ll point out that a Nissan Leaf is a purely electric car.<\/p>\n<p>Quite often we&#8217;ve stopped at Chester Services on the way to Manchester and have seen cars charing at the charging stations by the door. We&#8217;ve been fascinated by how it works and looked into it. If you buy an electric car you can sign up to Ecotricity and are able to charge your car for free at their charging stations.<\/p>\n<p>So on February 29th, we only went and bought an electric car!!! We bought it from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lookers.co.uk\/nissan\/contact-us\/chester-nissan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lookers in Chester<\/a> and had a great salesman (David) and if you&#8217;re in the market for a Nissan I would recommend speaking to him. We picked the car up last Saturday and had a great handover from Matt. It was the garage!)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve driven the car for the past three days and its&#8217;s taking time to switch over to driving an electric car. Firstly, it&#8217;s an automatic which is something I&#8217;ve never driven before! I&#8217;ll tell you, it was quite embarrassing being sat in the carpark and one of your co-workers comes to ask you if you&#8217;re ok and having to explain that I don&#8217;t know how to start it! Anyway, I figured it out!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6442\" src=\"http:\/\/becster.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/img_6066-1.jpg\" alt=\"Leaf\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/becster.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/img_6066-1.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/becster.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/img_6066-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/becster.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/img_6066-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/becster.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/img_6066-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The car is supposed to be able to do 150 miles on a full battery but so far the maximum I can get is around 102 miles &#8211; this was based on a journey I did yesterday which was 88 miles and the car was saying I had 14 miles left. It was quite scary to get the &#8220;battery low&#8221; message come up!<\/p>\n<p>But it should be great to get me back and forth to work. My daily commute is around 44 miles so I can get to work and back for two days on a full battery. It costs around \u00a31.50 to fully charge the battery so I&#8217;m paying 75p per day to get to work. I worked out that in my lovely old petrol Fiesta &#8211; (yes this is me saying goodbye. I was quite heartbroken!) &#8211; I can get to work and back for around \u00a34.00 to \u00a34.50. Yes I know it&#8217;s a lot but it&#8217;s a one-off fee and if our next car is electric then it&#8217;s worth it. I&#8217;m saving way more than that in fuel every year.\u00a0The car itself was also an expensive piece of machinery however there was a \u00a35000 grant available from the Government which helped reduce the cost.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It&#8217;s exciting having an electric car!
