Early Labour – maybe

It’s now 7.30am on Saturday the 4th of January and I’m up and about already. The reason for this is because I’ve had pains during the night which may have been the onset of early labour. I was up at 1am, 3am, 5am and then 6.30am with stomach pains. I had to wake the hubby up at one stage because I thought this is it but apparently it wasn’t so we went back to bed. I can’t say I’ve had a decent nights sleep! However I’ve been for a nice bubble bath and pains have ceased. Not sure if this is a good thing really as I really want this baby to arrive already!!

When I woke up at 6.30am I posted on a Facebook group* and some girls there gave me some advice. They said that this lasted for a couple of days for them so possibly baby may still be another few days before getting here. I had a read of the Bounty website about early labour signs and potentially this is what I’ve been experiencing. They had tips on what to do:

Tips to cope during early labour

Stay at home as long as possible. (Well I intend on staying home for the whole process so we’ll see how that goes)
Keep reasonably busy and active.
Have long relaxing baths. (One bath already done which helped)
Eat little and often to keep your energy levels up.
Try to rest and relax in different positions. (Yes I’ve found that lying down doesn’t help at the moment)
Go for walks, watch a really funny video.
Have a cuddle or massage with your partner. (He is currently fast asleep and snoring I might add!)

I’m currently debating over getting up and going downstairs to do some tidying or try to have a snooze to catch up on the sleep I didn’t get last night.

(* when I found out I as pregnant I joined a Facebook group. All the members were due December 2013 so we’ve all been experiencing similar stuff over the past couple of months. It’s been a great group to be a member of as we’ve all been sharing in the ups and downs of pregnancy. It’s also good to know that I’m not the only one worried about silly things! By now most of the members have had their babies and now the posts relate to bringing up baby stuff!)
