Goals for 2020

It’s officially a New Year (and half way through January already!) so I always think about what I want to achieve in the coming 12 months. I didn’t achieve everything I wanted in 2019 but I didn’t do too badly either. Anyhow, here’s what I have  as goals for 2020.

Learn Spanish

In case you don’t know, I’m bilingual as I am a fluent Welsh speaker as well as English. I also studied French through to A Level standard but haven’t spoken it since – mainly because I haven’t been to France since leaving school. I think Spanish would be much more useful for me as we tend to go on holiday to the Canary Islands where they speak Spanish. To be honest, I’ve already made a start as I’ve downloaded the Duolingo app. It is very addictive!

Rollerblading

Rollerblades

This year I’m not setting myself a goal of rollerblading every month as I’ve realised that it isn’t possible due to the weather we have here. Winter months are a bit of a write off between wind and rain. Instead I’m going to concentrate on technique… mainly I want/need to learn how to stop! I’m tempted to sign up to a SkateFresh course. I might wait for better weather first though.

Machynlleth Comedy Festival

Josh Widdicombe. the husband, me and Ed Gamble at Machynlleth Comedy Festival

These past two years we’ve had a great time at Machynlleth Comedy Festival that we’re going to go again this year. I’ve already booked tickets for Ed Gamble and Joe Lycett. Must remember to book accommodation which could be glamping (as it was something I didn’t get to do last year).

Best Time At Disney

WaltDisney World 2012

We also have a trip to Walt Disney World in Florida booked but the girls don’t yet! I can’t wait to take them as not only will they love it but I think we will too. The husband and I have already booked the dining options and also managed to book the girls in to Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boutique to have a Princess makeover. I remember standing in this place when we were on our honeymoon (pre-kids I should add) and actually uttered the words “who on earth would do this to their child?” ME! I WILL! IT ME!! They will absolutely LOVE IT!

Steam Train Bucket List

After re-finding my love for steam trains during 2019 I’ve decided that I need to develop my love further. With that in mind I’ve created a Steam Train Bucket List for this year which I’ll share in a separate post.

Lake District

I want to try and make it to the Lake District at some point again this year. The in laws have a lodge up there so we have somewhere to stay which is awesome. I can tick off one of the steam train bucket list items whilst I’m there but also I really want to visit Honister Slate Quarry. The Via Ferrata looks EPIC (although super scary!).

Other than these there are some health goals I want to achieve. My main one is to reduce my sugar intake as I’ve been diagnosed as being pre-diabetic. It doesn’t really surprise me considering my rubbish diet. I also need to start taking my tablets and inhalers properly.

What are you goals for 2020?

Goals for 2020 - I want to learn Spanish, have a fab time at Machynlleth Comedy Festival, visit the Lake District, improve my rollerblading, have an amazing trip to Walt Disney World and complete my steam train bucket list

  1. I’m so sorry to hear you have heath problems. I might be wrong, but I remember reading about foods with high glycaemic index, which can raise the insulin levels and should be avoided, like white bread. Maybe you should check that to see if you can make some small adjustments which might help, besides cutting down on sugar.

Good luck with all your goals. I would love taking a trip with a steam train too. I’ve been before at Bala and I loved it.
