Here’s a brief history of Becster.com!
I started blogging back when I was doing my A Levels – oh wow that would have been almost 15 years ago! I started off on a freebie site – which one I can’t remember. Then I was hosted by a lovely girl who had some excess hosting available. I eventually decided to go it alone and purchase my own name and hosting.
Why did I choose the name Becster.com?
One of my online friends decided to call me Becster and it kind of stuck! I knew my blog/site was always going to be a “my life” sort of blog so I thought I might as well name it as such! Makes me sound so conceited I know!
I blogged under Becster.com for a number of years. Most of those posts have now gone – I may have kept them on an old zip drive somewhere but I can’t find them. I did find one or two old layout images though!
For a while Becster.com was simply a place for me to host my trading card game logs. That eventually came to an end when my favourite TCGs started to die. I even owned two TCGs at one time – Depiction (a character TCG) and Polyphonic (a music video TCG). They died when my interest in TCGs waned.
The blog came back in 2010 and stayed around for a while. But eventually I lost interest in it again because all the blogging friends I used to know had moved on. I didn’t know what to do with my blog as I had no audience! Also the old style blog was all manually html coded and that got tedious. I couldn’t keep up with the classy designers out there.
In August 2013 I decided I wanted somewhere I could record my journey into motherhood. I had finally accepted that I didn’t need an audience and that I was happy for the blog to be for me only. For a while I simply used a WordPress free blog but in September 2013 I decided to resurrect Becster.com. WordPress was installed and voila!
During 2014 – when I was up doing the midnight feeds – I started to visit other blogs out there and started to get some regular commenters which was nice!
It’s only in the last couple of months that I’ve started to promote my blog on social media such as Twitter and Facebook. I’ve gained a few followers and whilst I don’t think my blog will ever gain a huge following it’s nice to see visitors! 🙂
So here’s to the next 15 years of Becster.com!
