(For a change this is a post about a room in our house and not Taid’s house!)
When we bought our house (4 years ago!!) the downstairs had all been painted magnolia which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. However it was kind of boring (especially in comparison to our previous house) so we thought we’d brighten the place up. First up was the downstairs loo since it was the smallest room we had!
Now unfortunately I didn’t take a “before” photo but pretty much it was boring magnolia with no decor whatsoever. Anyway here are the “after” photos:
(I may have gone overboard with my new sparkly app!)
What do you think to my home decor?!
Absolutely love the accessories! Think I need to invest for my loo it’s so boring!!

Thanks! To be fair everything except the “home” print was bought by my best friend. She has fab taste!
I want a sparkly app!! Love that home print! It is so tough to make the most out of small spaces like these. You did v well!
LOVE the “No place like home” sign!
I have a hatred for magnolia walls after spending my entire childhood in army housing. Magnolia walls and brown carpets all through the downstairs and on the upstairs landing. Bedrooms were either pale pink or a pale greenish colour (and not a nice green!).
Really love all the little touches. It adds so much character. I’m in the process of doing my home and finding it SO difficult to find things because I’m so fussy lol.
Damzel In This Dress
it looks lovely!
Thanks!
I was being fussy as well especially over the canvas print. All the other trinkets were bought as birthday presents etc by my best friend – she has good taste! 🙂
The sign was only £2.99! Amazing bargain! I never knew you spent your childhood in army housing! But I can imagine why they’d be magnolia and brown – quick and easy decorating!
The sparkly app is called Repix. I love it! Thanks – glad you liked! It’s the only room we’ve actually done up properly! Everywhere else has had new carpets but no personal touches.
My dad was in the army til I was about 10 and my step dad was in til I was 15 or 16. My first non-army house was one we moved to when I was 11, and it was housing association so we still weren’t allowed to do much, but at least the carpets there weren’t brown!
Magnolia – the professional decorator’s dream colour, because they can buy it by the tub load cheaply! And while it’s nice to live with the bones of a house for a while magnolia is just so dull – loving the finishing touches. I bet you can’t believe the difference now it’s done – good luck with the rest of the de-magnolia-risation! 🙂 #HomeEtc
What a soft and warm colour you’ve chosen. It looks very pretty and the little additions make it so homely x #HomeEtc
It’s alway tricky with downstairs loos, as they are small spaces, how do you make them a bit homely. Well I think you’ve done just that with the accessories, a nice homely touch. #Homeetc Sabrina xx
Oh I don’t hate magnolia or anything and I fully appreciate it’s value. We’ve bought a second house and it’s ALL magnolia!! 🙂 Well I don’t see us de-magnolia-ising the rest of the house just yet!
Thank you! All the little trinkets were bought by my best friend as gifts – she has good taste!
Thank you – as I mentioned in some of the other comments, the accessories were bought by my best friend – she has good taste! 😀
What a lovely clean, bright space! I WISH we had a downstairs loo!! Our house is grade 2 listed and there’s (sadly) no space for one! Thanks so much for linking up with #HomeEtc — hope to see you again tomorrow! x
