Penwythnos prysyr! Wedi mynychu sesiynnau Chwedlau a Llwybrau Eryri gan gynnwys cerdded i chwarel Gorseddau (eto!) gyda Dr Dafydd Gwyn, mynd i sesiwn stori y Mabinogion gyda Mair Tomos Ifans a wedyn taith hanesyddol gyda Rhys Mwyn ar hyd rhan o Dramffordd Nantlle yng Nghaernarfon.
Ond nid yn unig hynny ond hefyd cael mynd am drip ar "Queen of The Sea" ar hyd Y Fenai... a wedyn ymweld a'r "Bath Tower" yn waliau'r castell. Prysyr!!
Busy weekend! Having attended the Eryri Tales and Trails sessions including walking to the Gorseddau quarry (again!) with Dr David Gwyn, going to the Mabinogion story session with Mair Tomos Ifans and then a historical tour with Rhys Mwyn along part of the Nantlle Tramway in Caernarfon.
But not only that but also getting to go for a trip on the "Queen of The Sea" along the Menai Strair... and then visit the "Bath Tower" in the castle walls. Busy!!

Wel ddaru mynd am dro i Lyn Padarn neithiwr droi yn “antur” annisgwyl! Nes i benderfynu mynd adra ar hyd Lôn Clegir sydd mynd dros y mynydd o Lanberis i Lanrug. Golygfeydd ffantastig (cynnwys hon) o’r top a fysan ni wedi cael gweld y machlud dros y Fenai ond ddaru ni ddim cyrraedd y top.
Ar ôl troi gornel glywon ni “bang” a ges i ddim un ond DAU puncture! Stori hir ond ddaru ni adael y car ar ochor y ffordd a cael RAC allan i sortio fo heddiw.
Felly heddiw wrth fynd adra nes i stopio i weld yr olygfa yma yn lle.
Well, going for a walk to Llyn Padarn last night turned into an unexpected "adventure"! I decided to go back along Lôn Clegir which goes over the mountain from Llanberis to Llanrug. Fantastic views (including this one) from the top and we could have seen the sunset over the Menai but we didn't reach the top.
After turning a corner we heard a "bang" and I got not one but TWO punctures! Long story but we left the car on the side of the road and got RAC out to sort it out today.
So today on my way home I stopped to see this scene instead.

Llun wedi’w dynnu o un o pileri yr hen Bont Goch. Oedd hi’n werth mynd i fyny i weld y trên yn fan hyn. Cyn gymaint o hanes i’w dadbacio yn yr olygfa yma.

* translates as “A place where the soul can rest” but to me it sounds better in Welsh.
I went to give Nain and Taid some flowers recently. Whilst I was visiting Nain I went for a walk around the old cemetery. Cemeteries around Ffestiniog area have some great views.

Eglwys gatholig Blaenau Ffestiniog. Dwi ddim yn grefyddol o gwbwl ond mi oedd Taid yn catholic. O be dwi’n ddeall, mi helpodd Taid adeiladu’r eglwys. Mae’r adeilad wedi newid yn y 10 mlynedd dwythaf. Mi oedd y drws ar yr ochor arall (ger y Queens) hefo’r pulpud lle mae’r drws rwan. Y rheswm dwi’n gwybod hyn ydi mai dyma lle oedd cynhebrwn Taid…. 10 mlynedd yn ôl.
Blaenau Ffestiniog’s catholic church. I'm not religious at all but my Taid was catholic. From what I understand, Taid helped build the church. The building has changed in the last 10 years. The door on the other side (near the Queens) with the pulpit where the door is now. The reason I know this is that this is where Taid’s funeral was.... 10 years ago.

Today I had the great pleasure of going on a guided walk with the Ffestiniog Railway crew up to Diffwys and Maenofferen. Our guide was Dr David Gwyn OBE and there is no one better* to conduct the tour as he wrote the book about Welsh Slate.
* except for my Dad maybe. He used to work there.
Heard a few people saying how awful the place looks now but I hadn't seen the place myself. The last time I was here was about 25 years ago. I remember the quarry being open and it's depressing to see the place as it is now.
The driver who was taking us up said that he had brought people here who used to work in the quarry and that they had broken down seeing the state of the place. I can quite believe it to be honest. Heartbreaking to be honest.

Well the WHR100 weekend has come to an end. I had a great time even though I was soaking wet in the rain! And also able to burn my face in the sun on the Saturday afternoon!
