In the dark welsh valley,
On the mountain side,
Lay the little children
Close to where they died.
Their little lives are ended
Before they reach their goal,

Have paid the price of coal.We will never forget – Aberfan 21-10-66
On the morning of 21st October 1966 children went to school as like any other day. At 9.15am tragedy struck when an avalanche of coal waste engulfed the Pantglas Primary School. 116 children were lost that day and 28 adults.
50 years on Wales remembers those that were lost.
I’ll admit that reading these articles on the BBC News page brought tears to my eyes. The photos of the disaster are especially upsetting. Such a tragic incident.
Hug your children a little tighter this evening.

I had never heard about that 🙁 how truly awful.
It was one of those things that all Welsh people know about. Even my/our generation who weren’t even alive know about it.
It is truly awful.
I knew about the disaster from a TV show about the Queen. Such a tragedy for the whole community.
It’s just unimaginable! So sad.
