A bit of a throwback to 2022 when I saw Furness No 20 being steamed up over at the Ribble Railway. It’s one of a batch of 8 locomotives built by Sharp Stewart & Co for the Furness Railway. I find it quite amazing that I can see something like this when I run errands! Here’s about 4.5 minutes of the NG15 “Kalahari” at Y Stesion on the 40th March 2026.The NG15 number 134 “Kalahari” is the latest addition to the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways fleet. She originally was 134 built in 1952 and worked on the Otavi Railway in Namibia, Africa. In 1960 it was regauged and transferred to Port Elizabeth to work on the Avontuur Branch, South Africa. She was withdrawn from service in 1990 for boiler work but it was never completed.In 1998 she was bought by the FWHR for use on the Welsh Highland line. She was far too big to navigate the tight cuttings and tunnels on the Ffestiniog Railway line. It took up until 2024 for the rebuild to be completed and she made her steam debut at the Superpower Weekend in September of that year. After a few special appearances, she officially entered service in June 2025 hauling Gelert Explorer services. As it happens she had been hauling the Gelert Explorer services when I was filming this. #steamtrains #heritagerailways #snowdonia360 #caernarfon #ng15

Today is a rest day after a busy Easter week. First up we visited the British Ironwork Centre, trip on the Severn Valley Railway, I was put in the stocks at Hawkstone Park Follies, a trip on the Llangollen Railway to Wales Comic Con where I met Sauron and Rimmer! And finally a trip to Portmeirion to see the Oakeley Band play. One word… busy!! #WalesComicCon #SteamTrains #HawkstoneParkFollies #BritishIronworks #Portmeirion

I’m working on putting together a video featuring a “hidden gem” - Stwlan Dam. I still find it odd tha people refer to it as a hidden gem because it’s not exactly hidden!In my research I’ve found out that there’s more history to this place than the 1950s pump storage scheme. There original lake (per maps dating back to 1850-1880) was called Llyn Trwst-y-llon. In 1898 the lake was extended by the Yale Electricity Company, who built a dam and used the water to generate power at Dolwen near Tanygrisiau. This power station has since been converted to a residential property and can be seen near the road at the bottom of Allt Dolwen. In the late 1950s a new hydroelectric pump storage scheme was commissioned with Llyn Stwlan being expanded further to create the upper lake of the scheme. Set in the basin between Moelwyn Mawr and Moelwyn Bach the dramatic concrete structure can be seen for miles - especially now it’s been cleaned. I know I've been quiet here of late. Multitude of things such as being busy with life but mostly it's lacking any form of mynadd to post. I think it's probably due to the state of the world at the moment. I know I have it good in comparison to most of the world and I have no reason to complain but the bad news that comes through daily does take it's toll. Anyway.... it's sunny today so that's always good. Need to focus on the goodness in this world so that's what I'll aim to do. Here's a sunny photo to brighten everyone one up instead.

Decent snow happened in Caernarfon which is something we’ve not seen for almost a decade! We don’t have sledges so we took some cardboard and plastic bags and went to the nearest hill we could find. With Eryri mountains in the background we spent a good hour sliding down the hill. We got wet and cold but we had so much fun!#SimpleFun #SnowDays #Sledging #HomemadeSledge #Eryri #Snow #Snowdonia #caernarfon

“In 2019 you will take a walk over the Cob……and it will change your life.”And it did. It really did. That walk ended up with me taking a trip on the FR for the first time since I was a child. That led to being invited to travel on the WHR for the first time ever (to do a video)… that led to a day out with the Moving Pictures Team during 2020 Bygones Weekend and the rest, as they say is history! I have made some wonderful friends - found my people as some might say (the best people!), have had amazing experiences and have been involved with some once in a lifetime moments like filming the James Spooner naming ceremony in Blaenau, going on the gravity train, amongst other things. #eryri #snowdonia #heritagerailwaypeople #heritagerailways #steamtrainlife #northwales #ffestiniogandwelshhighlandrailways #ffestiniograilway
