#WorldTourismDay – 6 Places I’d Like to Visit

Today is World Tourism Day! And so to celebrate I’m sharing my top 6 touristy places I would like to visit.

1) Grand Canyon/Las Vegas

I’ve been to the Grand Canyon and to Las Vegas before but hubby hasn’t. I would love to go back and do a bit more whilst I’m there. As horrid as it sounds I would like to walk along the observation deck even though it would be scary as hell!

2) Australia

I’ve been wanting to visit Australia for a while – I’ve previously mentioned that I’d like to go to Melbourne to the Grand Prix and to visit the Neighbours set.

However there’s more to Australia than that. I’d love to go to Sydney to see the opera house – it’s one of those iconic building that you just have to have a photo in front of! I don’t think I’d be brave enough to walk the Sydney Harbour bridge though!

I’d also like to visit Ayer’s Rock at sunset. It would be beautiful! Would I be brave enough to climb it in heels and a posh frock a la Priscilla Queen of the Desert?

3) New Zealand

To me New Zealand has some stunning views (if Lord of The Rings is anything to go by). It looks like Snowdonia on a bigger scale! I’ve been a fan of the Hobbits since the first Lord of the Rings film and would love to visit the film set – as I’m sure hubby would as well.

4) New York

This image is mine!

We’ve been here before but there are things we didn’t get to do. We didn’t get to go to Liberty Island nor Ellis Island because it was in the aftermath of the hurricane and building works were going on there. Also I’d like to visit more filming locations for example the Ghostbusters building! (We did get a photo in front of MIB HQ though – see this post for more info including meeting Tom Hanks*!)

5) Iceland

I love snow and I would really love to see the Northern Lights. Also Iceland has some amazing geothermal pools which look absolutely stunning!

6) San Francisco

I’ve also been here before but would love to go back with hubby. When I visited I did the touristy things like standing by the Golden Gate bridge, visit Pier 39 and Alcatraz. If I go back I’d want to explore the place a bit more including going to the parks.

I asked hubby where he would like to visit and he’s more into historical stuff for example he’d like to visit the pyramids in Egypt, the Coliseum in Rome, Terracotta Army in China etc. I don’t know…. China would also be a good one but I’d like to see the Great Wall.

How about you? Where would you like to re/visit?

*You knew that reference was coming right?!

  1. I’m desperate to go to Iceland! We almost went for New Year but the flights were too expensive and we had to save money for the move to Basel. One day I will make it there!
